Tulip Festival - Woodburn, OR

Ben, Kyle, and Owen on the slide

Miles thought it was more fun to have Daddy support him completely than to climb by himself.

Home Again

We're home again after a long and wonderful visit with family in Oregon.  We're starting to recover from the journey, though we have a lot of unpacking still to do.  I'll get some pictures up as soon as I can, but in the meantime, be assured that regular blog posts will resume shortly.  Thanks for your patience!

We''re leaving in just a minute for a week in Portland with family, so I'm signing off.  Have a wonderful Easter!

Tubes

Miles will be getting tubes in the morning - thank you, God!

He's been battling bad ear infections - in both ears - for quite a while now.  He went through 3 rounds of antibiotics, and was finally proclaimed to be in the clear recently.  Thursday, he spiked a high fever and we took him in to see the doctor. (He was the only kid in his class, up until that point, to not contract pneumonia.)  We were told his lungs were clear (yay!), and his ears looked okay, though he might be starting to develop another infection in one.  Saturday morning, he started pulling on both ears, and we took him back in.  No fever, but he was wheezing, and had a raging double ear infection.  Our pediatrician prescribed antibiotic shots for three days, a liquid steroid, and nebulizer (breathing) treatments every 4 hours.  He got his first antibiotic shot Saturday at the doctor's office; a nurse opened the doctor's office up especially for him on Sunday to give him his second; and his third was this morning at his follow-up appointment.  We found out this morning that his ears still look bad, but his lungs have cleared up enough for surgery!  Our pediatrician finagled an appointment with the ENT for us this afternoon, and Miles will have surgery tomorrow morning to get tubes put in his ears so that he can be cleared to fly Wednesday morning.

Thank God for an awesome pediatrician, and a flexible ENT and surgical hospital!

Allergies?

I'm sorry for the lack of posts lately.  I've been down for the count with a "severe allergic reaction" to... ? Something.  The doctor thinks it may have been poison ivy, though can't figure out where I may have picked that up.  He also thinks there could be a bug bite involved, though is unsure of what kind.  Regardless of what it is, my body is covered and itchy and I've been miserable for days.  I've missed some work and am on 4 medications, so give me some grace while I get back to normal, please.  I'll try to resume posts soon, I promise!

Pleasant Potty Songs

Gisèle skipped happily into the kitchen after spending some time in the bathroom, singing joyfully to herself while going potty and washing her hands.  We smiled at her, and she announced, "My song was about God and Santa Claus and princesses!"

Finally - Backyard Weather!

Houston is firmly into spring now, and the weather is perfect.  We've actually been able to spend time outside with the kids, and we've been enjoying all the space in our backyard!  Miles loves the toy lawnmower (even with the bubble bottle empty), and Gisèle loves to yell "Watch me!  Look at me!" while she kicks or throws her princess ball.

Soliloquy

Gisèle:  "Mama took me to school and Daddy picked me up.  Good question!  I'm like a hamburger."  {smile}

*note - Yes, that was all one thought to her.  No, there was no question asked.  No, I do not know what she meant about being like a hamburger, and no, we were not having hamburgers that night.
